The CROSS project is a Christian initiative supported by a broad base of churches in the Wakefield area. The Project was established in 1992 to serve secondary schools in this area. The project employs a small team of schools workers who support schools. They work with churches and other youth workers in Wakefield to present Christianity to young people in a relevant way, and offer support to young people in their school years They do this in a variety of ways such as; Lessons, Clubs, Assemblies, Chaplaincy Work, Prayer Spaces in Schools, Year 7 Induction Support and Mentoring.
Linda has been covering some of Katherine's maternity leave, with the focus on Ossett and Beckets lunch clubs. Linda is also one of our very valued volunteers. Linda has previously partnered with CROSS as a result of her work at New Life Christian Centre.
Rachel started work with the CROSS Project in January 2015 as our Office Administrator. She is in the office on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Rachel previously worked with refugees in Coventry, but is now enjoying life in Ossett and Trinity Church with her husband, and especially enjoying working in their largish garden.
Nick joined the team in 2014 and became Team Leader in 2016. He mainly works at City Academy, Becket's, Kettlethorpe and The Wrenthorpe Centre. Nick has been involved in youth work for the past eight years and lives in Leeds. He enjoys reading, walking and all things to do with football, especially supporting Blackburn Rovers.
Katherine is a schools worker and mainly works at Cathedral Academy, Outwood Academy, Ossett Academy and Castleford Academy. Katherine is a former secondary school teacher and is part of Trinity Church Ossett. Katherine enjoys spending time walking and visiting new places with her Husband and Son.
Consultant and Trustee, Ian works one day a week at CROSS supporting the team in strategy and future planning. Ian lives in Bradford with his wife Jenny and loves Scotland and any kind of travelling.
Christine Downs volunteers to help Rachel in the office- she brings far more envelope stuffing and label printing skills - Christine always brings some happiness to the office when she arrives on a Thursday morning. Christine and her husband love Paraguay and are involved with work with the church there.
